That Square hole is the fresh air intake for the fandblower inside the van...

I could only assume that the reason it's been blanked off is that the internal fan blower has been removed?

Thank you! I would very appreciate if anyone could give me the part number...
It it normal that there is nothing - it is european car, the driver located on the left

There are two square inserts, on the fan side it’s a grill for air inlet, on the other side it’s a blank.

I'm just wondering now if I UK right hand drive version as the same blank plate on the driver side?

Ia wood Volkswagen make one firewall panel with the cutout stamped in for left or right hand drive versions.

Or would they build the chassis as a left-hand drive firewall or a right hand drive firewall?

I have to say that I don't think I have noticed it before?

Yes RH drive has the blanking plug, one of the big sources of cab noise. Scuttle sound deadening takes a while but just covering that blanking plug makes a difference

Could anyone check the partnumber? 🙏
You don’t need the OEM blanking plug, it serves no purpose other than covering a hole in the bulkhead. You could just cut a piece of plastic sheet and use a polymer adhesive / sealant (not silcone).
