I have the above engine and only being pulling caravans since November. I find pulling it uphill is a chore and need to change down to fourth on large hills. I find it a bit embarrassing when a truck overtakes me going up hill. Im in Newquay at the moment and considering going to Celtic Tuning for a remap to get me back upmthe A30!! Anyone done anything similar to boost the bhp and torque.?

I bought a CAAC engine 140Hp T6 6 years ago, brilliant engine but a bit lacking when pulling a 2 ton trailer, I had a Pendle remap to about 180, it became a much better towing vehicle, lovely torque and power. Six years and 50K miles later I still love the van and have only had to replace tyres, nothing to do with the remap.
I don't, however, know if Pendle is still in business and I would do your own research (on here) before jumping in. They get very mixed reviews, more recent ones especially.
The 140 engine is a great, reliable engine and it can reliably give much more than 140 when mapped.

I had a Revo map done on my old van . 2016 manual 140 . Took it to somewhere just above 180 ps.
Was great to drive and actually regret selling it to be honest . Pulled well when needed and effortless on the motorway fully loaded . Never towed anything mind .

Thanks. My new caravan.is just under 2t so that's something I like the sound off. Think in another thread says they've closed down.

The fact it was great at 180bhp sounds good to me. The van currently pulls great fully loaded but I need more oomph going uphill towing. The extra 47Bhp and tourqe may help a lot.

I have a 2016 140 DSG and have a Revo map done by Bognor Motors to around 180ish had it on there about 7 years now no trouble at all and makes it much more driveable

We returned from Hendra at Newquay on Saturday morning just gone, with your 2T caravan, so I remember the A30 quite well, it’s a rollercoaster to say the least, it is however, worse on the way back as you’re climbing up away from sea level.

If you can get booked into Celtic while you’re down there, I would definitely do it.
We tow with our T32 LWB, DSG, 4Motion… it’s quite heavy as it is, then we add 2T to the back of it, granted it’s a remapped 204 (250-275ish with remap just before we went) the drive was soo much better with buckets of low to mid range torque, you won’t regret it.
It may also serve you to have a few other bits mapped out while you’re at it too.

I know the bits you mean. Unfortunately, one of them.was replaced 18mths ago!!
We're staying just down tbe road at Atlantic Reach. Its a bit run down and looks like Pontins from the 80s.!!!

But the bullet and I'm booked in with Celtic Tuning in Newquay next Monday for a Stage 1 remap on the rolling road. 47 more bhp and 45lbft torque. Should help get me home up the A30 with the caravan in tow a bit more easier.

Hopefully they’ll use a road map to get real world data from it then perfect it on the dyno.
I’d love to have mine on a dyno, wish I’d thought of this while I was down there last week.

I think Mr Pendle is residing at His Majesty’s Pleasure…
