EGR valve CAAB 102 T28 , issues, additional codes and loss of power.

Unsurprisingly I have EGR issues on my 2016 T28 102 CAAB

It's thrown a couple of P0401 (EGR insufficient flow) in the past month. I cleared them with a view to cleaning or replacing the EGR valve/cooler. Van was running fine.

However, yesterday I got P0101 (MAF) and PO299 (Underboost) and the van, sigh, now runs like a dog.

I had a quick fettle around the EGR and the actuator is siezed, so it's going to need to come out.

2 Questions

1. Am I correct in hoping that the 101 and 299 errors and subsequent shite performance are a product of the egr valve siezing and it being blocked or should I be looking further ?

2. Does anyone recommend a particular manufacturer of EGR (EuroCarparts offer starline, ERA, Valeo, and there's a million on fleabay) or is it false economy and better just to take out another mortgage and buy original VW one ?

I'll be keeping the old one in the ultrasonic cleaner and keeping it as a spare.

cheers, I'll check it too,

I've tested the TCV with a vacuum guage and it , at least, is working :)

I need to go round the rest of the vacuum pipes and check them all.

And thanks for posting the removal guide :)
