Anyone taken their camper over to see the flowers? We've always wanted to see the bulbs in full bloom and there are lots of escorted trips. I'd rather take the van and would welcome any info from anyone whose been as we start to plan our trip.

Cheers

So we are now all booked to see the dutchbulb fields in all of their glory.

The main place/ event is the Keukenhoff gardens just outside Amsterdam.
Linky

But there is a flower festival, the Bloemencorso, complete with carnival floats with huge flower covered animals/sets and displays. This takes festival place on the weekend of the 21st April.

Campsites
There are lots around, but we've booked into the nearby camping de wulp.

We will be hiring bikes for the festival, the parade passes through lots of towns and getting about then is supposed to be a right PITA, as it gets so busy.

:D :D

Great campsite in Volendam right next to the Marina as you come into the town from Amsterdam, another one at Edam as you if you go towards the back of the town behind the bus park and up the side of the estuary as it comes into town, but right at the end by where you leave the estuary.
Another in the centre of Purmerand town, really nice lively town with bars and restaurants the central square.
Two in Amsterdam one good one if you want to be spliffed out and too close together for my liking.
But loads of places to camp and really nice people.

Enjoy

Keukenhof is a fabulous place to visit if you like your gardening or the spectacle of wonderful flower arrangements.
We did Keukenhof gardens yesterday - fabadabbyloso !!
Today we got up early, 7am, and cycled 5k to see the Blomencorso flower parade line up, wow talk about spectacular. Huge trailers with giant dragons, unicorns and spacemen with rockets. The place where we’ve stopped, Noordwijk, hosts the European Space Agency and also has a space visitor centre, well worth a visit.

The cycling here is amazing with separate cycle lanes everywhere, very very safe!

And the place is like as colourful as a rainbow patchwork quilt.

Acres and acres and acres of the most fabulous striking colours.

They even do helicopter flights to see the bulb fields by air.

Fab place, ideal and recommended for a long weekend jolly on the van
