Not being a mechanic breeze are advising a replacement coz its apparently noisy! at a cost of 2300 just surprised I thought it should last a bit longer than 30000 miles
Manual box? At the best of times theyre rattly old things so unless its in full-on cement mixer mode its not worth getting worried about yet, providing that itsmdriving and swapping cogs ok.
DSG? Much the same applies. If it's driving fine and isnt obscenely noisy then leave it alone, and keep the AA membership card tucked in the sun visor for extra peace of mind.
The DMF on my 2014 5 speed manual was done at around 31k miles. Was noisy as hell by then.
The replacement has seen 30k miles since and is still noise/trouble free.

The 6500 mile DMF on my manual rattles away, especially when cold. I believe the originals are Sachs, but aren't made to the same standards as the aftermarket Sachs items.
