Driving Work.

Being freelance I get quite a few days off in the month, I've been trying to fill these days productively but often going to the gym or for a bike ride gets replaced with a pub lunch or a bit of Netflix! I've decided what I really need is some work to do, considering I have a Kombi it seems possible I could do some deliveries for a bit of cash. But.....heres the problem, I never really know when my days off would be so woud need to be as and when I'm available. I'm probably clutching at straws here but I know the forum members are a resourceful bunch so just thought I'd see if anyone has any suggestions.

I can't help with finding work, but don't forget about insurance and you'll be using the vehicle for hire or reward. There have been cases of takeaway delivery drivers being stopped in their own cars and found to not have the correct insurance. Once you have the correct insurance, you'll be on the database, which if given a sniff of what you are up to, HMRC could come knocking. Big brother is stopping all of us from using initiative to try to earn a little extra.

I’ve found an app called Vanuse which is sort of like Uber but for vans. You can be insured by the day through them apparently or I can also add the necessary hire and reward to my commercial insurance. Although I’m yet to work out whether by the time I’ve paid for the extra insurance is it worth doing it part time.

I don't think that occasional driving work does stack up. Apart from the insurance, the costs are more than just the fuel. There's the extra mileage that brings new tyres and servicing times even closer, not to mention depreciation.

I was talking to one of the drivers locally that does the Next deliveries. He gets a pallet load dropped at his house which he has to sort and arrange his route to get delivered that day, however long it takes. All for 50p per item.

You could earn more than that on the profit accumulator Website
