Drive away with Thule

Hi All, i have a lovely thule 4900 roll out and very secure brackets that are attached to the van and sit in my reimo multi rail gutter. These brackets have additional safety clamps that sit in the actual awning slot below the gutter, as shown below
My question is, is it safe to travel without the secondary bracket in place or do i remove the secondary bracket on site to allow the drive away to slide the entire length of the rail?
I know there is a rail on the Thule but I don't want to use this due to the gap.

Leave the brackets attached to your awning rail and use the channel on the end of your Thule awning (pictured on the left side of your picture) to attach your driveway awning. what gap are you talking about? If it's the gap between the Thule awning and your van there should be a rubber strip fitted to prevent rain ingress.I certainly wouldn't undo the mounting bracket.Screenshot_20200616_080912.jpg
