After installing 255 all was not well, it kept crashing whilst editing a route and would not switch off by pressing the left hand button.
Rummaging around with VCDS in Address 5F: Information Electr. (J794)
Trying various things without success,
then on Tab 18 I changed to Startup screen from Hybrid(PR-0K3) to None/Standard
Success, all seems to be OK now.
