Delay of engine start

Hello, I wonder if anyone can help me diagnose a delay when turning the key and the starter motor cranking the engine?
It’s been like it for a while now, but as it’s getting colder, I am wondering if a new battery could be needed? Is this something anyone else has seen?
It’s a 2019 T6 panel van with 25k miles, on the original battery. (I think)

Appreciate your help guys!
Thanks

Glow plug pre heat delay?

Mines started a short delay now it's getting cold.

But defo get the battery tested .

Charge your battery and then try it.
Mine is slow to fire when battery voltage is low but instant with a fully charged battery.

Cold weather starting can be delayed by the Ecu to allow the glow plugs to get to temperature. You will notice that you only have to turn to start mode on the key for a second and then release, the vehicle will then start to crank when it’s ready to fire up without any more input by holding the key to the starter position.
As we all know the battery is key to all the electrical systems and during cold weather batteries are often below the minimum start parameters which will cause a starting issue.

Thanks Robert, that’s very interesting. I will try it tomorrow with a full charge

What he said.
It's a diesel engine. They need pre heat.

Thanks Mick, I’m guessing you don’t have many minus temps in Oz! It’s definitely an issue in colder climbs

Just out of interest, have you ever replaced your battery, and if so what option did you choose?

I’ve read a few of the posts on here and I’m still none the wiser! TPS quote £240 but the Varta alternative is half the price. Any idea what the difference is? Not over interested in high outputs and I don’t use the stop start function… and I would prefer not to have battery coding problems, so I’m guessing a like for like option is the best.

Just go for Bosch or Varta- Top quality -like for like. Tanya is a brilliant online supplier - way cheaper than TPS for the same item.
Easy swap over. I always connect a battery charger to the vehicle battery leads before disconnecting to avoid any battery fault codes and retaining the memory of radio nav etc.
