Day van locations north east?

Hi all,

Probably a question that I should already know the answer to given I've lived here 34 years, but...

Anyone got any hidden gems to park up with the family in the van and spend a bit of time there with a picnic? Ideally a quieter spot!

Etal, part of the Ford and Etal Estate. If you drive through Etal village until you find the little car park by the river (and ford) you can park there and sit by the river or wander a 100 yards up the road to the castle where there are picnic tables and lots for the kids to explore.

That looks lovely! I'll stick it on my list of places to visit... Might be a bit far to nip for a picnic mind. We're based in Teesside.
