So i have a westfalia detachable towbar with genuine VW electric kit on my 2022 T6.1 van and i have come across something that is intriguing me
On the weekend i upgraded to a new toy carrier trailer that has onboard battery for electric winch/lights etc, this battery charges from the tow electrics on the van but im not sure what the setup/current limit is or what limits it ?
I assume the trailer module somehow limits current flow as the battery was flat when i connected it and several hours later when i got home everything was powered up on the trailer so i know it took a charge and as its a 12v 68ah vehicle battery its capable of absorbing high current and certainly would have taken everything the van could offer, now as it didnt blow a fuse when charging (15A/20A fuses fitted) its safe to say the current flow is limited by some method
Anyone have any info on this ?
