Cruise cutting out on bumps

Hi All,

Hoping someone can point me to things I can check on my car?

I'm in Oz and its a T6 CAAC engine.

Coming home to near Melbourne from Coffs Harbour (northern NSW coast) yesterday my Cruise began to cut off as I hit significant bumps or joints in the road surface. Hitting 'Resume' on the left hand stalk it continued back to speed as normal. I did try turn cruise off a couple of times but that did make any improvements.

It's about 1400klm or 14 hours so my Cruise is important.

Any ideas of cause or things to try very welcome please.

Cheers
Russ,
Sunny Melbourne

I'd say either a bad wiring connection or a bad connection in the stalk itself

I agree this sounds like a connection issue..

Do you have active cruise (with the front radar)? (Could this be loose?)
Do you get any warning briefly on the dash when this happens (tcs etc)?

I think cruise is cut off if traction control is activated. I guess this is possible for a fraction of a second as your front wheels go over the bump.

If it was a radar fault I'd expect a fault light to come on and cruise to be deactivated until the next ignition cycle with it being part of a safety system. Could be wrong though

Pete is right. Most likely the ESP getting triggered is turning it off.

No not active cruise just the old fashion type. And no warning I could see but sometime I thought I felt the brakes engage very slightly. May have been my imagination of course. Thank for your response.

That could have been the traction control system sensing a difference in wheel speed. That will cancel cruise control too.
