New here..have a T5.1.. trying to install a Road Angel dab head unit and have aerial connection reception questions?

Tried just the supplied windscreen aerial temp in position just on my driveway..not great

Tried just the existing vehicle aerial..better but when driving around the signal strength is yo young in and out..

Any help in this matter would be great thanks

Hi Bobby welcome to the forum.
The windscreen stick on Ariel should be all you need. It needs to be fitted properly to work as part of it attaches to the metal frame.
Also you got any idea what a jobby is up here in Scotland? :slow rofl:

Dab signal is still useless in the uk unless you are near a big city. You can get active aerials that help a little. Still cant believe they rolled out dab with it being so flawed, still!!

Weird, I've been using DAB for years, live in the arse end of nowhere but travel all around the country with work and 90% of the time i dont have any DAB issues in the T6 or my Golf....I listen to a combination of BBC stations or Radio X.

Thanks for the replies gents. Installed the windscreen ariel top ns with it's metal tag firmly contacting the metal of the front pillar and it's all peachy here on planet jobby.

RadioX!! Jay sis man!...it's jazz fm, radio 5,4,3 heart 80's and planet rock for me all the way baby

Ps iPod blutoothed is my preference though

So.. have put up with rubbish DAB for 2 years since buying our T6 and installing a new kenwood head unit. Everyone said that DAB in VW vans is rubbish because of wing mirror aerial and the windscreen stick options don't work, especially with a heated screen. HOWEVER... this week I finished installing a shark fin to the the pop top and the radio reception is full on brilliant. Solution being using the roof hinges to get the earth to make the ground plane for the aerial. So... there is a solution and it does work brilliantly. There are one or two issues to overcome...notably the pop top is thicker than the aerial securing stub but there is a solution for that too...
