Hi Guys,

Great forum
After years of Landrover ownership I’m about to sign on the dotted for a T6 Kombi hopefully!.
Loved the Landy show scene and forum communities, just disillusioned with the cost of running and replacing my Discovery 4.
A recent blown engine and a £10k bill finally made up my mind!.
Looking forward to chatting with you all.

I was in the same boat....(sinking every month while the disco was in for repairs)....sold it and bought a T6....it's the most practical...reliable (touch wood) ....45+mpg ...vehicle I've owned....however ......I've changed the interior, suspension and currently have 4 sets of wheels (which may rise over the next week or so)....but one thing for sure is that without the help of members on here I would of wasted a considerable amount of more cash ....so welcome to the forum and if you can get to Camperjam I'm sure there are plenty of members you can meet F2F.

Yep, tickets turned up last week;), looking forward to it!

I did the same couple of months back....D4 to T6 Kombi 4mo.
Fuel consumption on short runs only slightly better that the D4 but love it, so much more space.

We bought a T6 & had it converted, we use that to tow the boat & then chopped in the D4 (previous tow vehicle) & bought a Yeti as a runabout. Running the T6 & Yeti is still cheaper than running the D4. The D4 didn’t have any mechanical probs, although at 4 years old, it wouldnt have been long. But the fuel, insurance, road tax & servicing on the Yeti & T6 combined are about the same as the D4.

I have been considering changing my 4 year old Defender for a new low spec D5 or a top spec Disco Sport but with recent news re moving production to Slovakia (plus that stupid offset rear number plate!) I'm going to wait a while longer to see what happens with the new Defender if/when announced later this year. In a addition, it only took 4 years, but Jo has finally admitted she actually quite likes driving the Defender! :)

welcome to cheap as chips motoring.once you"ve bought all the bits that you "need" for your van then its like free transport.only trouble is,they are never finished so no one who owns any model of transporter has ever reached the free motoring nirvana.....but we all absolutely believe it excists and keep struggling on towards the euphoric light.

The reason we bought the Yeti was the D5. We'd had 8 Discos dating back to 1991, all new. We got an invite to a preview of the D5 as our D4 was ready for changing. We walked into the showroom & saw the D5 for the first time. So we had some sandwiches & a drink, walked out, went to the Skoda garage & ordered the Yeti. I don't know what the bloke who designed the D5 was on, but it wasn't planet earth.

Hopefully my Defender will keep holding its value and/or continue appreciating for a while yet while waiting for JLR to announce something - low mileage (22k) and even less being added since I got the T6. If not another Landy, I probably wont be going down the Yeti route but I do like the look of the new Suzuki Jimmy as a practical toy.

If the Defender is tidy & you can afford to stash it away somewhere, I would. I had a series III which I sold for a song as it was taking up room. I still regret selling it.

Yep, it's very tidy still - it was my dream car and I know I would instantly regret the decision if/when I do sell. Photo a bit old from when I first got the van but only circa 2000 miles added since it was taken:-

For some reason I've never really considered Discos as Land Rovers. I know they are but the word Landrover to me means a Series/Defender
