Colour instrument cluster testing

Hi guys and girls,

I managed to find a T6 colour cluster on eBay after a long period of searching. Unfortunately I didn't notice in the pictures what looks like a rusty water line at the bottom of the colour screen. D'oh!

I would've taken them apart and had a look inside but the part number acts as a security seal so can't break this and attempt a return if this is broken.

I know the cluster is basically the immobiliser and Component Protection "Master" module so want to check with experienced people before plugging it in. If I plugged it in and turned the key to position 2, would it disable all my modules that are Component Protection enabled because they aren't on the colour cluster's list? Would I get immobiliser issues if I didn't attempt a start?

The van is in a partially disabled state, the radio is removed and the front radar is brand new but has been plugged in and already shows CP active. The bumper is off so I can unplug it if required. Does anyone know which other modules are CP enabled?

The van is a 2018 T6 Highline with B&W clocks, new clocks are part number 7E0920980L, allegedly from a 2018 T6 but have a manufacturing date of 29.06.2015 so may have been retrofitted before.

Thanks!

Might be safer to power it up out of the van for a bench test, it will illuminate and show you enough to know if the screen is working

Thanks Pauly. I have some Dupont cables in the house.

Does anyone know the pinout for T6? EDIT: I did some searching and found the power pins:

31-kl15
32-kl30
16-GND

Thanks again!

KL30 is perm live and KL15 is ign live so You will prob need to link them to get the cluster to turn on

All sorted, powered up on my radio test bench and seems to work fine. Only 45k miles too, nice. Now to dismantle and clean out the crud
