Colour coded tailgate handle

Can anyone confirm what parts I'd need to buy to change my black plastic with keyhole handle on my t6.1 tailgate , to a colour coded handle without a keyhole.

As it's electric I'm sure it's easy to swap over no mechanical rods or anything

Looking at online pics it looks like the colour coded cover pops off anyone know if these would just clip into my existing lockable handle, obviously after removing the existing cover

Thats what was done with mine when I had mine replaced. Had to have the lock removed though so a hole remains behind the colour coded cap, but meant I didn't need to buy the whole electric handle and cradle.

@PaulR83 where did you get the cover from? I’ve had a good look online and can’t seem to find one anywhere.

Hi, garage supplied it. From memory you need GRU in the part number for the factory primed one.

@PaulR83 why did you have to remove the lock? Can the cover not just sit over it?

I believe the lock sticks out a bit and the flush cover wouldnt sit over it.
If I was to do it again I'd rather have the proper cage that sits behind it too bit can't easily change now as the cover uses double sided tape to seal it

Ok thanks, is that because it doesn't sit flush? Any chance you have a picture at all please?

It looks fine from the outside just like that kombi one so wouldn't tell and a picture won't help I'm afraid.

No I've not got round to doing mine. I googled the covers and they were bloody expensive for a tiny peice of metal so I've left it for now.

Yeah agreed on the price! Which is why I'm trying to triple check everything as it feels like an easy expensive mistake to make
