charging leisure battery

Measure the voltage before and after starting the engine would be the most basic test
What type of battery is it and what device are you charging it wirh ?

The voltage does not change when the engine is running (12.7v) but I am not sure if the engine battery takes priority over charge rather than the leisure battery, the battery is lead acid leisure battery and charging from the camper.

If it is a T6 the alternator is so called 'smart' and only charges when the vehicle battery requires charging. If the vehicles battery is relatively full, it doesn't charge including the leisure battery. I think you can force charging by turning on some high current draw items like the heated rear window, head lights etc.

but was device is charging the leisure battery that is a key bit of info to know to understand whats going on
It could be a basic split charge relay or you kind have some form of DC to DC charger ......
