Cause of rust around door sill on T6.1?

5 year old T6.1.

I have a 20 plate T6.1 body work is all good apart from this small patch of rust bubbling up on the drivers side door sill near the arch.

Has anyone else experienced this and does the 12 year bodywork warranty cover this or are they going to tell me it's cause by an external factor? It seems to be coming from inside rather than the result of an impact or damage

I would t bother wasting your time, they will blame stop chips or the door etc
If it bothers you get it too a body shop for a quote

That's an external cause, probably tiny chips or scratches. It could equally be a flaw in the original paint finish, but there is no way of proving that.

The anti corrosion warranty after 3 years only covers a panel that's been perfortated, and only if from the inside-out, which that isn't.

Probably not that expensive to sort.

I see you have a side bar (or looks like it from photo?). Possibly a case of keep putting foot on side bar as you jump in or out and over time wearing away the paint. (Apologies if not how you alight 😉).

Is the seal present on the leading edge of the door?

I’d also get yourself some front mudflaps.

Had same problem on a T5. Have two theories, one, it's caused by stones bought into the cab on your feet, then falling down between door and sill. Other is stones thrown up by front wheel, enter the sill area where there is a gap. I put sticky foam in this gap on the sill to prevent that.
