I'm looking at buying one of the CarPlay add on tablets for my daughter's car. There seem to be a lot of Amazon/Ebay from £30 - 100, and very little difference, has anyone any experience of these? I'm particularly interested in connectivity ie, power and sound.

Surely the power and sound will depend on the existing car radio as the car play add on is just another external source like audio from a 3.5mm jack or Bluetooth?
I have one in the van, it connects to my phone over wireless android auto (would do the same if your apple inclined also) I have mine set up to output to bluetooth, which is paired to my factory head unit so all sound comes out of the speakers in the van as normal. My phone connects to the factory head unit for calls, but also connects to the display for media (not phone calls), and if i recall correctly, it also connects to the phone via WiFi which i assume does most of the data transfer. I have mine hard mounted/ wired (im not a fan of having wires dangling about) to an ignition live, so it turns on and off with the van. it is literally a 'set up and forget' solution for me

There may be other more modern/better versions out there and i dare say they all operate much the same.
