Can anybody identify the middle? The bottom cable is for factory mirror dimmer. Top is the headlights. The middle is? Where's the sensor?

Thats the RLS (rain & light sensor) thats stuck to the windscreen, the sensor is behind the metal bit, the connector is in the middle box and the wires into are in the top box

Googled the part number and it says rain sensor.

Now I know how Siri feels

According to VW Sinclairs there's a sensor in there that has lost communication with the front sensor (I assume is the radar sensor behind the bumper)
