Been camping for over thirty years now and loved every minute, had a few caravans, numerous tents and even a trailer tent, all good, but the camper van is the best (in my opinion) but lack of space can be a problem, and if your touring you need to set up quick, and packup quick, but if your there for a week or more, you need space and a bit of luxury so we have a few options to hopefully cater for all scenarios.
First up is the Fiamma privacy room. You obviously need a Fiamma roll out awning for this option which can be used on it`s own as just a sun awning with no sides but with the Privacy Room it converts into a small enclosed awning. Set up time is quick, about ten mins once you get the hang of it but downside is you cant drive away without packing up the whole thing so good for overnight stops. Pic below.
Next up is the Vango Faros 2 Air awning. About the same internal space as the Privacy Room but with the ability to drive away and better weather proofing as there are no gaps and a sewn in ground sheet makes for a better all round awning. Set up time is still pretty good at 10-20 mins. Pic Below.
Long stays are a breeze with the Vango Galli 3, huge interior space, four air beams give great stability even without the guy lines which are only really needed in high winds but is good with just the front and back web straps, we prob use this awning the most as its so good. Set up time about half an hour. Downside is it`s quite heavy. Pic below.
And finally for quick overnight stops we just use windbreaks with the roll out awning. These are Quest Screen Shield windbreaks, about 6ft high and really solid with the aluminum poles plus guys if you need them, Quickest of all set ups, 10 mins or less (depending on how many beers you have had
Hope this helps someone, Happy Camping.
