Camper van Value for insurance.

Hi all,
I am just in the process of renewing the insurance policy for my campervan. My problem is settling on a value. I am using a value in relation to the amount I paid for it one year ago when it was nine months old. It is the latest T6. registered in 2024 with a very high spec and people tell me it is appreciating in value. I wonder therefore what members think it may be worth.
2024 T6.1 T30 Highline. Auto, 4Motion, 204bhp biturbo. It has a host of factory extras including two side doors, (electric soft close) Leather captains seats. LED headlights, cruse control, New aloys and Tyres. Proffesional conversion from new, Sliding rear seats high spec pop top. Inside or outside etc, etc. Only covered about 16,000 miles.

Your thoughts much appreciated

In my experience, insurers will insure a campervan conversion under 12 months old with an insured value equal to the cost of supplying a new vehicle, which may be higher than the original invoice price. In the second year and beyond, irrespective of the value declaration provided by the insured, in the case of total loss, the insurer’s obligation will be to payout only what is assessed as ‘the market value’. This settlement amount is judged to be the sum required to allow the insured to purchase a replacement vehicle of similar specification and condition at the time of the loss sometimes referred to as ‘forecourt value’. Whilst your valuation will help the insurer assess the risk they will be covering, it will be ignored for the purposes of settling a claim.

Finding a specialist insurer that will offer an agreed value policy will be a challenge. Usually these are only for classic or specialist vehicles, and then you will be required to obtain an independent valuation from an acceptable marque specialist or owner club.

I have an agreed value policy with JustKampers. When I got it new, the value was the price of the empty van. Once converted I sent them all the bills and some photos, and now it’s insured for purchase + conversion cost, and it’s 4 years old.

I have Agreed Value policy through Adrian Flux. Just required some pictures and detail uploaded as per their request.
Same here. Also Flux for the C70, exactly the same - a series of pics uploaded via their app, within half an hour I had the confirmation and they were happy. Their customer service has improved markedly in recent years.

For me value is easy, at least for the present time. Its a Redline conversion, so pulling up their website and finding vans of comparable age/spec/mileage gives me the retail market value, which is wheremid likely buy a replafement if the worst happened. That'll work for a few more years yet until it ages beyond the point they tend to deal with.
