Evening all,

Found a small gremlin with the van recently. Have the amber bulb warning displayed on the dash once engine is running (not before). Scanned with carista and no codes showing

I’ve checked the obvious and all bulbs are illuminated. I have the THQ V3’s with leds in dipped and main (mains have been coded accordingly)

Does anyone have any clues for me?

Bulbs have been in nearly 2years fault free, its a new error thats cropped up. Still same thing you reckon?

Could be early signs that the LED's are failing. I had similar with an LED bulb which eventually failed. Dash would throw the error then I'd check the bulbs and everything was OK. What was happening it was flickering off throwing the error.

Hi, silly question have you checked number plate lights?
I had this light and no codes, I walked round the van a few times scratching my head and didn't notice one of the small bulbs was blown above the number plate.
Noticed it eventually and put a new one in and bulb warning light went out.
Hope yours is this and it's an easy fix for you.

First thing i checked after making the same mistake before! Every exterior bulb is working and none flickering (yet), side repeaters, fogs, top level brake light. Not sure what’s causing it, i have read that it can be a sign that the starter battery is on its way out but van sat for 2 weeks and started on the first key turn so doubtful of it being that.

Number plate lights are monitored separately

BCM is looking for current drain, if the LED's have built in load resistors to fool the BCM that its pulling the same current as a halogen bulb then they could be failing. I have seen resistors burn up and/or show excess signs of heat as the voltage is dumped across them and energy is dissipated as heat.

Would these not be shown when scanning though? I’ll pop the halogens back in and see if it makes any difference.

Any updates on this?
Installed leds for all front lights few months ago.
Coded off bulb diagnostics with vcds but malfunction bulb still on dash and no codes showing on a scan.
All bulbs workin when I look around it, 2014 Amarok.
Any Suggestions greatly appreciated, driving me mad!
Thanks

I had a bulb out warning only after dark with auto lights selected (THQ V2’s) after replacing OEM halogen tail lights with OEM LED tail lights. It was a coding issue, no need to disable the bulb out warning in my case.
