Buckinghamshire/ Oxfordshire area for 2 nights

I’ve got some time off work and the wife is busy etc so I’m heading away for 2 nights by myself!

We live in the middle of Buckinghamshire and I’m happy to drive an hour or 2 to get somewhere nice!

Ideally all I need is a shower block and electric hook up! I’m trying to find somewhere with a walkable pub (walkable cafe would be amazing too) and some nice walks that I can go on!

Any ideas?

A lot of camp sites are closing now for the winter.

Britstops are great, but no EHU or shower blocks.

But some CC&C club site are open all year and have hard standing, EHU, and shower block.

Lea valley club site near the M25/A10 junction springs to mind.

But I'm sure others will pop up with some suggestions farther afield.

.

Nice little spot. You'd have to phone them to book, the website doesn't state if they're open into November.

A little bit far from then pub to walk, but only 5 mins to drive.

Hi, we have found a few places for a couple of nights away (we're in South Bucks).

For a change of scenery (on the Grand Union Canal) https://www.abccaravanparks.com/grove-lock/ - and pub next door.

For the sea West Mersea Holiday Park, West Mersea, Essex - Updated 2025 prices | Pitchup.com - pub & shop onsite and 20 minutes walk into town.

Towards the New Forest Three Trees Campsite | Ampfield Camping

30 minute walk or short bus ride to https://www.hants.gov.uk/thingstodo/hilliergardens - well worth a day out any time of year.

Personally I wouldn't rush back to Lea Valley, although it does have a bus towards London.

I'm not a member of CC&C! I was thinking of joining next year when the season starts up again.

My daughter and a friend have both stayed at Grove Lock and recommended it to me - we went to The Old Dairy Farm as a walk into Bletchley, but we found the traffic noise was off-putting.

Thats the one I was just looking at :D!

£72 for a Saturday-Monday booking. Easily walkable to henley for a beer and bit of a mooch around. Also looks like some decent walks along the river.
Love Swiss Farm and Henley is very nice- great traditional butchers in the town if need BBQ meat.
