Brake pad warning light issue

Hi, I replaced pads all round recently, but front pad warning wiring plug was damaged . I thought I could get around it by connecting wires together ( before they go into plug ) but 500 miles / 2 weeks later I’m still getting brake pad warning light appearing on start up every time and while moving occasionally as per worn pads .
Any advice ? Thanks

How (well) did you connect the wires together? Sounds like a dodgy connection. I’ve done the same on my 6.1 with no problems while I get round to replacing the cable/loom.

I cut back to fresh wire and wrapped them together then taped it . Not absolutely joined but I’d be surprised if that was why ? In fact I redid it just to be sure . I could solder them or connect them into the same chocolate block I guess ?

Cured it.. while my repair was sound enough, the perfectly good connectors on the right hand rear weren’t pushed together properly…Doh…
You wouldn’t think I fix gas boilers for a living …👍
Should have got your blow torch on it...
If you've got any diagnostic kit (or know somebody that does) you can code the warning out so you never have to use a wear sensor again. I did it when I couldn't get wear sensors for the aftermarket brakes on my previous Octavia but not had any need to do it since.

How much is a diagnostics kit ? I’ve had the van since new (6 years) and will probably keep it at least another 5 hopefully, and I think it could be useful to be able to get in. My engine light came on last year, a friend checked and found a random injector issue that seems to be a loom glitch . He wiped it before the MoT but it reappeared again later. I’ve done 20k miles with the light without any noticeable issues and if nothing else happens I’ll get it wiped pre MOT this autumn
