Bosch S5A 13

HI,

I've just bought a new start / stop battery for my T6 to replace the original (2018) battery. I got my local garage to fit the battery beacuse as far as i know it needs coding for the start / stop to work. The battery is fitted, but here was no BEM code or QR code on the battery. I've tried to get it from the supplier, but with no luck so far. Are the BEM codes individual to each battery or does one Bosch S5A 13 have the same code as all the other S5A 13's?

Thanks

As long as you enter the correct size and type of battery you can just change one digit in the previous serial number and it accepts the coding as a new battery.

I’ve gone from the original 000 915 105 FC to the Bosch, so different size and type, but it seems it wasn’t coded in properly and just done with a load of 0000’s. I’ve realised and this sounds very stupid, but the start / stop wasn’t working before, so the previous owner must have messed about with the battery it seems. Can I use the BEM code of the original battery and then change 1 digit as welll as entering the new battery size and type?

The Bosch code is VAO and I coded mine with Carista. Change the serial number by 1 digit. Jobsagoodun.

I believe the van will sense the battery state and decide for itself to use the start stop function or not.
The Start/Stop on my van wasnt working for quite a long time before I replaced the battery, coded it in using VCDS but just a serial number as it was like for like. The Start/Stop is working again. Makes sense that if the old battery is down on capacity it will not risk the van failing to start at the traffic lights.
