Bluetti Apex 300

Yea, I've loooked into some of the issues with them and how people have dealt with the main one, It would appear though the part most people need aint due out until June. Unsure at the moment if there is a need for solar, but if there is the charger 2 will be better suited for my needs.

I bought an Apex 300 and then literally days later they emailed to announce the Elite 300. It's cheaper, has more capacity, lighter, smaller and doesn't need the hub addon for 12v as it already has output for 12v/30a. I managed to return it and buy the Elite instead so am looking forward to getting that all installed soon!

it's what suits your needs at the end of the day thats important, for me the van handles the 12v side of things so wouldnt have a need for a hub, my needs are geared more towards the 240 side.

Ahh yeah, fair enough. The 2x plug sockets on the Elite will be fine for me, I didn't need the 4x on the Apex. To each their own.

Exactly that, hope you get on well with it. :)

Thanks, you too. I'll try and get some updates on here when I get it done. Or you'll see it on my conversion thread :)

Is the elite much smaller?

I like the look of the apex but it looks huge, and I don’t like having the additional unit to plug things in. What I really did like is the fact they’re launching a fast charger to plug it into EV charging point

Elite is more Campervanny than the Apex, both are heavy though in comparison to my AC180 charged by portable panels, even that is a 16kg lump though!

Where do you keep it when driving?
Usually behind the passenger seat, packed in with all the other gear we take. Padded case straps around the Jormax, it can't go anywhere. It then lives in the awning when camped.
Bluetti cases are expensive and not as good or as waterproof as the chinesium one we got from ebay for less than £20.

I mean I’ve got an ecoflow river as my only one at the moment I was looking at a Bluetti to run a camping fridge (alpicool CF55 probably), whilst I wait for my insurance to sort itself out so I can do a proper lithium electric install, but I’m not doing cabinets, just an ovano and kombi type van. Because I’ve got 200watt of fold up solar panel that will be ok for some charging of an elite 300 but i wanted to be able to charge on the move, so an apex and stops at EV charging points seemed like in good option, but I didn’t realise how huge they were. But where I’ve got long cables for the solar panels I could put a charger 2 in the passenger footwell and then run attach the long solar panel cable to the bluetti in the back on the ovano slide drawer for charging on the move.

Main use is at festivals and I used the solar panels and cable to charge the AGM leisure battery on my old van because the roof mounted solar panel died….. I ran the cable up through a gap at the boot door which I liked slightly open with a little device. So I could do that still with a Bluetti in the back/boot. But we also want to start doing some Europe trips and touring.

When I get a leisure electric install I was going to get lithium, diesel heater, solar MPPT under the seats and then was going to see about a mains hook up point and a solar panel hookup point install under the bonnet hood, at the back using the little hidden hind for the rear panel one of the companies do, then the elite would be a back up and for AC things like an induction hob for heating up a bit of food etc. The little ecoflow river then could live somewhere else for phone charging etc….. so I’d have a really nice modular set up where I could change what the solar panels and fridge were hooked up to.

There's a lot of available power in the Elite. Charge it up at home before you go it may possibly cover the fridge and more. I'll be interested to see how it performs, 250Ah+ with solar top ups AND that Ecoflow too may well be enough! Only one way to find out!

ChatGPT reckons it will run a CF55 for 4.5 days without a top up. So with top ups i probably wouldn’t need much more. But I still want a leisure electric system so we can have diesel heating to go to colder countries like norway.

If there was a decent heating system for a solar generator like these I wouldn’t bother with leisure electrics but it seems like there isn’t anything that wouldn’t drain the battery. I also like the idea of triggering a diesel heater and have a permanent battery remotely as I work nighshifts and want to be able to turn the heater on for a nice warm van to drive home, and a permanent power source just incase I ever get stuck at work due to snow etc, I can just kip in the car park.

Yeah, it's certainly much more manoeuvrable too. The Apex is 38kg! It was a real beast. The Elite is 26kg, which is still heavy but because it's smaller too it seems more manageable.

We treat our Bluetti as a useful addition to a 230Ah internal battery. That 230Ah runs 2 compressor fridges and the diesel heater and the other ancillaries in the van happily, the Bluetti runs the coffee machine and Airfryer, toaster, flagpole lights and usb charging. Solar is great too! 270w rigid on the roof and 220watt suitcase for the Bluetti. You will be happy kipping in the carpark with that Elite! Something for me to save up for...

Until I get van back from convertors I'm not making any decison on which model to go for. Apex, Elite, not sure, all I know is the van has a a good battery for the12v side of things. Of course the Elite us smaller/lighter, but as its going to be the main 240 source, it only has 2 sockets. My set up will be gasless so the four plug option on the apex could be right, then again theres the apex 400 due for release, decisions to be made.....

For anybody looking at both options here’s my take:

after doing a lot more search after buying it I’m 100% sure I made the correct decision going with the lifepo route.

Given that everything I do is under 100w I only really need 12v and the ROAMER230SB gives the same 2760wh at a much better price and in a much better form factor.

The main reason I originally went with the bluetti was I thought it would be easier but in reality it’s no different. You’ll likely be installing a DC/DC anyway so the only real work you'll save is installing solar unit.

The batteries are much more versatile as they’re smaller so you have better options for extending/adding more power.

I think if I got an induction hob that would be my only reason for getting one but even then I’d be getting a smaller unit just for that and keeping the van running from the typical 12v setup
