Big brakes upgrade

I have a set of 340.front brakes to fit to my 2016 t32 shuttle when the original 308 discs wear out. I wasn't aware that a coding mod was required after fitting - can the gurus please confirm and advise?
Many thanks
** EDITED ** @mmi pointed out my original post was T5.1 only, so here's an updated post with both:

** Make sure you save a full scan before modifying, just in case. The values referenced are in the ABS long coding **

T5.1

For the 308 brakes (16 inch chassis) the original values will be Byte 02 = 24, Byte 08 = 24, if so, change to the following for 340mm (17 inch chassis):

Byte 02: 64
Byte 08: 26

T6
Valid for the MK100 ABS with the following part numbers:

SW 7E0 907 379 P HW 7E0 907 379 M
SW 7E0 907 379 Q HW 7E0 907 379 N

For the 308 brakes (16inch chassis) the original values will be Byte 04 = 25, Byte 12 = A4, if so, change to the following for 340mm (17 inch chassis):

Byte 04: 65
Byte 12: A6

Hope that clarifies and apologies for any confusion earlier.

See mmi's comment about the T6.1....guess it'll be a while for any coding info there

T5.1 has MK25A ABS system and T6 has MK100 ABS system. Their codings are not identical.

I'm confident the T6 won't even accept the above (checksum fail). Well, T6 doesn't even have the "24" in the mentioned bytes I'm afraid. Then T6.1 is yet another story, different codings.

Some T5.1 ABS codings were explored here

Ahh ok, thanks for the heads up, I've edited my previous post accordingly. If you spot any issues please let me know

We had the 340mm bigger brakes fitted to out t6.1. it's a day van but 2022 driving around Europe, particularly Austria and Switzerland I felt the brakes lost some of their bite coming down some of the passes so upgraded and last year they felt fantastic. Not particularly expensive upgrade (£500 all done). I know it's a van but as my daily driver and after having Steve and the boys at CRS fit h & r anti roll bars and koni active shocks I can still have a bit of fun driving around

Hi Pedro, am I reading this right? Roll-bar upgrade and dampers for about £500?

£500 is the price some sell their 340mm brake setups for after upgrading to something bigger/better

Heritage sell brand new 340's ,calipers, carriers , pins, springs ,discs and pads for £410 ;)
They're copies, the same can be had on ebay - casting quality varies so choose wisely, some look rough as f

ETA: Outside chance they're refurbished genuine calipers, these can be had at reasonable prices but never found any refurb carriers

@phazer @mmi I’m looking at upgrading my T6.1 brakes as my 308mm discs and pads need replacing.
Do you have the coding information on the T6.1, if so do you know if it can be done via long coding with an OBD11?

Perhaps this is something i should look into on my 6.1, i upgraded from factory 308mm to aftermarket (aston/brembo) 340mm fronts and never made any changes
Any direction for me to start @mmi ?

I'd be interested in this as I'm thinking of changing when my pads / discs need swapping and I have an MOT and service in about a months time.

Cavete. A small point to bear in mind when upgrading brakes to the larger diameter T32 type, is that a standard supplied 16” spare wheel will no longer fit.

Hmm... thought your van had big brakes as has option 2E4 confused.webp

Not forgotton - working on it - have been comparing codings vs. build sheets - unfortunately I've been busy with other obligations but hopefully will finalise in a week
Apologies for the delay. The following changes are the difference between small (2E3) and big (2E4) brakes on T6.1 (covers most of the T6.1)

Just reading this thread again. Two questions popped into my mind.

Firstly, what difference to the van does making the changes @mmi posted on #38 make. Is there a negative to not making the changes? @Pauly

Secondly, what happens if you installed even bigger discs than the 340mm? What would have to be done with coding then?
