I need to book in for a poptop in around May timeframe, I've seen a lot of good things about Halifax, but it may be a touch too far - I will be driving over from where I'm based in Germany, so ideally need somewhere as near to Dover/Folkestone as possible. Any recommendations?

If you’re after a Reimo poptop, I’d recommend CMC - and it doesn’t get much closer to the ferry than that.

Having said that though, if you do want a Reimo, not sure why you wouldn’t just get it done in Germany…

I actually went to Reimo in Frankfurt, to the factory and a couple of Reimo shops.... 10k EUR to fit one!!!

Ah I see, I’d get a quote from CMC then to compare. Reimo are high-end poptops though so unsure how much you’d save after factoring in travel etc.

Strangely it's not as common here, as much as they love camping it's not the same culture in the UK with multiple places for buy stuff for a conversion - just sourcing a precut ply floor is hard enough! In the UK, loads of options on eBay.

Then when I have found a company that does poptops, they are expensive and when I move back to the UK at the end of this year, the warranty will be near useless.

Visiontech Automotive in Colchester

These guys👆, but if you think a Reimo roof is expensive... 🧐

Also, they may struggle with your timeframe - they always seem really busy and booked-up months in advance.

Yeah realise it's top tier though.. I did like the look of the Halifax ones, good reviews on here and decent prices, just might be a bit far

They're literally just down the road from me. Heard some decent feedback (from @Dellmassive), but wasn't really aware of them at the time my van was being converted.

Oh man, are they the people that took over the HiLo poptop! That's a blast from the past, I didn't even have one of the bloody things and I still feel traumatised from all the endless forum posts of people's disaster stories there! Presumably they've sorted it out now judging from the way the disaster stories have dried up...

Yep they re-engineered the system to get rid of all the problems and i can't fault the system now, had it up in high winds without issue and the way they have engineered to hold down points and lock is the best i've seen on any roof out there.

TBF, the HiLo issues weren't directly related to product design. From what I recall, the recurring theme was...

Installation was time-consuming (and therefore expensive), which resulted in many installers attempting to cut corners, which resulted in many issues, which resulted in HiLo being swamped with requests for remedial work, which resulted in piss-poor customer service, which, ultimately, resulted in HiLo folding.

It was the slightly cheaper Hilo Surf that caused massive problems iirc.
