I keep on meaning to get this thread started . . . . Today is the Day.
this all started from having to share my data with the kids on long drives so they could you there Tablets whilst on the move, or remote from our Home WIFI.
We also used this setup when holidaying or camping - again to keep the kids amused with Pepper Pig videos on YouTube.
The Kids are now much old and have their own phones with data and are no so interested in Pepper Pig anymore, its more SnapChat and Insta . . . . apparently Facebook is for "old people" ie the mums &...
STARLINK (Satellite Internet and WIFI) -- How I Done It --
Starlink is starting to get more popular with the Camper and Caravan community, so i thought id take a Look.
we first saw this setup a while back on @Eli awesome waggon, he needed it to get access to the internet to work remotly while traveling Europe weeks at a time.
Then we saw @Mick with one, again used for Internet access when far and wide, plus also traveling over to Europe.
Then we see @Jollyvan joining the gang - mostly to ensure he could watch the F1 GP races on Telly.
We just use our phones. Lebara 30GB data, unlimited calls/texts, EU roaming £8/month. We travel extensively in Europe circa 3months/year. Never come close to running out of data. If we need WiFi for the iPad, just switch on the phone hotspot. We have a couple of old iPhones, I’d considered hardwiring one into the van, voila! WiFi and tracker for free. But we’ve never felt the need.
We have a Three sim with a 5G modem - £20 per month for unlimited data. We're currently on a site in Hampshire with very poor mobile 5g (showing one bar of 4g), but the modem worked well enough - around 40mbps - for Netflix
Unlimited data in the UK only, but a £5 per day passport worked well for remote working around France last year
