I have a 2023 T6.1 T28 with a 1.9 litre diesel engine. The van is converted to a camper with a set of Sargent electrics.
Recently I left the driver’s side door open for a couple of hours whilst i was pottering about sorting out stuff stored in the van. Eventually, after shutting and opening the drivers door again, I had warnings of low battery voltage on the screen. I checked - battery voltage at 11.4 volts.
I’ve found that the installed camper van electric hook-up set-up charges the leisure battery, but not the vehicle battery. There’s also a solar panel which charges the leisure battery, via a controller, but not the vehicle battery.
Here’s the question: I have a “smart” manual no to 12v battery charger. If I want to use this to charge the vehicle battery, can I safely connect it direct to the vehicle battery under the bonnet - or do I need to think about disconnecting other stuff first?
