barn door panel carpet

Hope someone can help. I've pretty much finished all the lining of the van now, but i am having trouble with the passenger side barn door lower panel. I have the original hard board panel so i have used that as a template, but when i go to reinstall the panel and put the cover back on the inner door handle i cant get it back on. Looks like it's because of the carpet its causing an issue with the fitment of the trim around the handle I am obviously missing a trick to get the cover back on anyone got any advice?

Brute force worked for me.
You could do a bit of trimming of the carpet where it doesn't show to help things latch in place.

Sme here. Forced on but it sometimes causes me issues with the external and internal handles. Feels a bit stiff and makes the door difficult to open at times.

brute force and a slightly larger cut out for the handle worked. Thanks for the advice
