Awning orientation question?!

Hi all,

Question regarding awnings...

I like the look of this awning:

What I'm curious about is given I have a slide pod and my van is a single slider (passenger side) I'd much prefer the porch/ door to face the other way as if I was cooking under the tailgate, I'd be at the opposite side of the van to everyone else.

Basically, I want this awning but with the tunnel to connect to the van on the other side.

What are my options as every one I've seen is the same orientation as the one I've shown.

Cheers!

Couldn’t you by one for a left hand drive model or one to fit the offside and spin it around onto the near side
Door would face the rear then

You sir, are a genius!!

I'm slightly embarrassed I never thought of that!

Looks like there's some serious deals to be had too... £1000 off?!

I’m sure if you search you will find one to fit and also may have a simple zip rear opener to the front

Just be aware of how wide your overall set up is gonna be .
Your 6m wide(ish) plus guy ropes with this awning .

Or contact vango and ask if they do a euro spec version of the cove I have always found them to be very helpful

Is there a reason that most awnings have the canopy facing the front of the van? Is there a benefit to it that I'm not seeing?

I bought this one, as it has the option to fit the van either way round (haven't actually tried it yet though). I also have a pod in the van and cook under the Tailgate, so I hope I got it right!
If I read the details correctly, the connection between the van and the "Tent" can be fitted on either side of the main accommodation and therefore makes it reversable.

We had the Outdoor Revolution Cayman Combo Air awning for a few years. Great bit of kit and open at both ends which was SO useful.

We also had the add on porch which we could fit at either end ( very roomy, had the WC and shower in it at festivals. )

Gives you the best of both worlds. And it's air so no messing about with poles. I regret selling it with the last van.

( we mainly use the legendary Quechua Base Seconds pop up tent next to the van nowadays )

Because on a narrow pitch, only just fitting on, you don't have space to the side for access into the door.

So the door faces forward where you have the space to the front of your pitch.

but if my van was parked the other way round (tailgate where your bonnet is) with the awning door in the same orientation, that wouldn't take up any more room, would it?

Do you mean why not back rather than front?

Rather than why not at the side?

They are normally branded as the EURO models, basically for LHS euro vans where the door is the other side.
