Apple Car Play ..........

when I select phone on the screen via car play, it always wants to try to “listen” to a name ..... which when travelling at any speed ....

Is there any way to skip this step?

That's my problem in a nutshell - this option doesn't always come up................. then siri doesn't understand what I ask it ................ maybe disabling siri is the answer

From memory you need Siri enabled to allow carplay to connect in the first place. Don’t swear at Siri either mine answered me back and wasn’t happy!!

thats hilarious! my a3 had it as standard, and my partners swift has it too!!! its only an app.... i have the upgraded OEM media system too! with the big screen! (bought the van second hand, its a 17plate highline)

I agree it’s pretty awful it doesn’t come as standard, even the top of the range sat nav doesn’t and that’s big bucks compared to a decent aftermarket nav unit

Can you get your this installed as an aftermarket upgrade or does it have to come factory ordered @Pauly?

Dealers can activate it (although some say they can’t) but it’s a couple of hundred quid or more depending where you take it

Thanks @Pauly, I have app connect on the new Kombi but it’s not activated, I’ll speak to my local VW Indy, they say I can have it unlocked and provide a few vcds tweaks hopefully

I have th upgraded head unit in the t6, and it still needs to be unlocked. There will be some whiz kid who will find a way to do it I’m sure, soon enough

Thats about right, not aware of any work arounds as it needs to be connected to the german mothership (via dealers computer) to activate
