App Connect Issues

I'll start by saying I love App Connect paired with my IPhone however I've noticed an issue recently. If I'm listening to audio (radio or Spotify) and a call comes in on CarPlay, after the call is finished I cannot hear sound. When I try volume it seems to adjust the phone volume. I've tried disconnecting the phone and stopping/restarting CarPlay but no joy. Anyone else experienced this and have a solution.
 
How old is the van? Maybe an old headunit firmware version?

My iPhone X works intermittently, mostly it works with app connect, but sometimes it gets stuck in a loop of connecting/disconnecting and plugging/unplugging the lead makes no difference.

What does usually work is holding the headunit off button for about 10 seconds and letting the thing reboot itself, this is easy to do when driving and might be worth a try as a workaround.
 
The van is a year old next month. Thanks for the suggestion on head unit reboot I've only ever turned it off and on again. I'll give that a go
