Has anybody removed the giant center muffler and replace it with straight pipe or a less restrictive muffler? Just wondering about any sound and performance changes.

No the centre silencer. The van has 2 after the dpf.
Unfortunately deleting both won't change the sound. It will give a tad more turbo whistly and a bit more meat to the sound but nothing audible.
On diesels the dpf steals all the noise.
I have a pp tuning twin exhaust with a small straight through packed silencer. No real change in sound. Just a tab more meat and turbo whistle.

Cheers guys, I’ll get the sawzall out soon and cut it out.
It must be a Euro 6 thing then. Mine goes, turbo, cat, dpf, silencer, pipe, atmosphere.
My t5 was the exact same exhaust as my t6. Both had a middle silencer and a rear silencer.

My daily is a leon 184 tdi euro 6 with milltek with no boxes, sounds stock apart from a little whistle, my T6 is standard at present
