I still use mine, just make sure they are not allowed to seize up by regular use and very slightly smeared with an anti-seize compound.
I always carefully remove them with a long bar and long socket and keep the locking key firmly pushed in.
I remove them when I go on any overland trip to avoid any unforeseen issues. During this time the vehicle is not really left unattended so not a risk, but put them back on when back home again.
Also, rember to note which Letter your “key” is should you need to order a replacement.
