Another post about too much oil warning light

Good morning folks,

I have had my T6.1 for 2 years, and only got this problem when I first had it serviced, so i'm guessing the previous owner removed some oil perhaps.

Anyway, the light would come on after about 65 miles, and the dipstick hatched area looks fully covered in oil even when cold. After looking on You Tube to find possible remedies, I removed half a litre, and yesterday, I went 85 miles before the light came on. Of course, when you open and close the bonnet the light goes off, but my question is this :

If the van has about 7 litres of oil in it, how much can I safely remove ?

Thanks

I had these fun & games following my van's first oil change.

Not sure how many litres of oil this equates to, but just make sure the oil level isn't above the mid-point of the hatched area on the dipstick and you'll be fine.

I suffer this.

I corrected the oil level, it now sits perfectly halfway between the marks on the dipstick.

Nevertheless, after a similar mileage to yours the lying bastid gives me the same warning.

I just ignore it now. There is a software update that helps, but which isn't a universal cure to the sporadic bullsheet lies the van tells me.

I had different after my last service at dealership after 300 miles a warning came up on the screen check oil, it didn’t even show on the dip stick put a litre of oil in and now in the middle of section on dipstick.

I had the same problem some time back. With the dipstick showing at the 'full mark' I took out about 1/3. Now running at 2/3 full. No further lightups.

I took out 500ml, the warning reappeared once more after that, but never to be seen again. Half way up crosshatching now, good as gold, well more black really...
