Hi All,

looking for a little bit of help here,

I have bought all the kit to install the
Alpine ILX-F905D Halo 9 into my 2018 T6 Transporter.

Ordered
KIT-HALO-VW303 Pardon our interruption...
Alpine ILX-F905D Pardon our interruption...
KWE-CAM1D Pardon our interruption...
Volkswagen Transporter, Caravelle T6 USB Retention Harness For Aftermarket Radio Pardon our interruption...

Plus the GPS and DAB fakra adaptors

I managed to get it all fitted and powered up, the steering wheel controls, rear camera (factory fitted) and parking sensors (also factory) all work as expected. However I cannot seem to get the audio to play, I get no sound on any audio output whether it be RADIO, BLUETOOTH etc.

I had the DISCOVER MEDIA unit installed before, had added rear speakers to the Quadlock which were all working fine. I had added a sharkfin aerial to replace the GPS / DAB and AM/FM aerials for better signal, again all working previously.

On the KIT-HALO-VW303 loom I connected the speed sensor to the output from the headunit loom, and the phantom feed for the AM/FM adaptor included in the kit to the REMOTE OUT wire (Light BLUE) as I have seen on videos on youtube.

I still have the RED, YELLOW and BLACK cables that are close to the Alpine CAN box with Bullet connectors on not connected to anything, and there is another cable (Blue with Red stripe) that has a bullet connector on labelled AMP REMOTE that is also not connected to anything?

The company I purchased the loom from have suggested that is may be a setting in the menus - "Advanced Amp Support" in vehicle settings. It is turned off by default.

AI says that the REMOTE OUT and AMP REMOTE need to be connected together aswell as the phantom feeds for aerials.

I got the point where I could not get it working last night at 11pm so reverted to the old unit for now until I can figure this out and refit.

I have attached photos of the KIT-HALO-VW303 loom.

Any insights would be helpful

(another question while I think of it - does the CANBUS interface on these vans read the Heater controls and Seats on the vans that do not have CLIMATRONIC Control? I am guessing not)

OK. So getting closer to the issue. Refitted this weekend. Everything else working except audio.

Sharkfin, left power disconnected, powered dab through headunit. GPS working. FM not sure but without sound can't tell.

Cameras and steering wheel working.

Android auto working.

Startup gives error 100. - Google search suggests speaker resistance out of range for the unit. Prodded the speaker wires and getting between 3.1 and 3.8 for all factory and rear speakers. Unplugging speaker wire harness removes error on startup. So must be related to speakers.

But how is it that no one else fitting this in there vans who still have standard factory speakers are seeing this issue?

I don't want to have to add an amp. Nor do I really want to change all the speakers in the van right now. And my old headunit had no issues with any of the speakers?

After a lot more testing it turned out that one of the cables for the rear speakers had a short to ground on both cores. I had disconnected the cables at the speakers but the problem still presented.

Then after depinning the cables from the quad lock one by one I found that the cable was the issue. I have just left one of the 4 cables depinned for now and everything seems to be working.

Can't belive that the old headunit didn't have any issues. But glad to get there eventually.

Will have to try and figure out the issue another time when I can take the roof lining down to see where the damage is.
