Ordered loads! Mostly camping stuff. I think the most expensive item was ~£170.
Many (all?) don't get paid until you say you've recieved the item.
Delivery is fairly quick nowadays. I actually miss the times you'd order and your item would turn up a month later when you'd forgotten all about it.

You only pay vat over £39, and you only pay import duty over £135 I think it is.
I buy tons of stuff from AliExpress, it's a marketplace, so some sellers better than others, always check reviews. Most stuff arrived in a week or so. Not had a problem, even returning items is pain free, they give you a royal mail label, and return it to a UK warehouse.
I buy stuff from Aliexpress when I either:
- Can't get it anyewhere else (eg the start/stop eliminator)
- It is something that isn't a show stopper if it fails (and then I typically by extras just in case)
As Matttius says some sellers are better than others, so always check their feedback reviews.
DO NOT get a VCDS cable of Aliexpress.

They are promoting hard - dispute resolution favours the consumer not the merchant; returns are free back to a UK warehouse and the merchant takes the hit again. A big push is to get the consumer to gamble via the site. The IT behind the scenes is Amazon on steroids. When they pull back the pro-consumer posture, it will be interesting to see how it goes
