Alarm/immobiliser

Hi all, just turned 55 and finally I can afford to buy a VW transporter that I have always wanted ! 😀 some want a sports car but I want a camper! Does anybody know how I establish if my 2017 VW transporter high line T6 has a thatcham approved alarm/immobiliser?
 
Not sure about the lower spec vans, but a highline will certainly come fitted with a Thatcham-approved alarm/immobiliser.

My build sheet (available on here as a VIP member) states Thatcham Alarm fitted on mine. Was really useful recently to prove it to new Insurance company.
I guess you could also ask VW workshop as well?
 
All the factory supplied alarms are Thatcham standard, usually seen on Startline+business pack and up.

The standard immobiliser is Thatcham II, as are all cars/vans sold in the UK since 1st October 1998, and when combined with the alarm it becomes a Cat 1 setup.

I used VW's own sales brochure to prove to Aillng Fux it was a Cat 1 alarm when the got snotty.

That's odd - all vehicle models are rated for security by Thatcham, so, using your VRN, the insurer should be able to look-up a definitive list of the factory-fitted security devices fitted to your van.
 
They do Bav, but they prey on consumers being unaware as an excuse to either load premiums or avoid payout.

It's like Fux's T&C's, in the event of a theft claims you have to produce a Thatcahm II certificate minimum, when all vehicles come with it as standard and certificates are not issed with them. It's nonsense, just a false obstacle to negotiate and try and put you off claiming.
 
Security certificates are usually only required for aftermarket devices.
