ADAS recalibration

My other half has kindly reversed into my 2018 T6 edition on our driveway

She's managed to crack the lower front central grill, broken the radar sensor cover and the mounting bracket. The sensor is now loose at one point, as one of the alignment clips has snapped

I'm happy to change the broken parts myself but do I need to get the ADAS recalibrated after fitting. Presumably I do, or can I get away with not?

There are no error messages on the dash and cruise is still working

My van doesn't have adaptive cruise, just the standard cruise

Thanks

I'd think that once the the OEM parts are replaced like for like then the sensor would be in the exact same position and wouldn't need calibrating.

Thanks but presumably as the mounting bracket has calibration screws I'd need to somehow try and replicate those exact positions or get it calibrated?

Try it first, if you get warnings.like radar sensor not available,

Or silly auto braking

Or iffy ACC

Then it needs a re-cal'

I’m surprised calibration checks of these driving aids isn’t included in the VW service schedule

I'm not convinced that they do anything like that nowadays - I was told by the VW Swindon cowboys that they don't even plug the VW diagnostic tool into the system if it's in the workshop for just a service.and they've not been told about anything else - they also said that as far as they're concerned even if the owner had an engine light come on, if it wasn't present when the van was actually in the workshop, it might as well have no come as far as as they're concerned. I was surprised at that as I would have thought plugging in a diagnostic tool might have thrown up one or two extra money spinners for the poor dealership. I'm probably doing them a grave disservice but I also sometimes think that that the average chimp would do a better job than most VW technicians if you chucked enough peanuts and bananas at them (the chimps that is not the VW people!)

Certain Kwikfit centres can calibrate the radar sensors. I know this as I have had mine done. They do an alignment first then roll out a trolley with the VW kit on to calibrate the sensor. Not cheap though, it was £250 when I had it done.
