Thanks Bav that’s a great point, why should they care too much! I’m just scouring ads as we speak and doing the maths trying to get some comeback for them.
To get just a standard panel van similar spec condition and mileage to what I had is roughly £8-9k but they are hard to find as the mileage is more often over 200k. It’s the beaten up ones that go for less.
The wheels would be £500 (for which they were insured) I already have a set of 4 new tyres in garage.
The seats, windows, mat, badges, curtains side & roof bars would cost me around £1500 maybe more, I’ve told them everything over the years and always given them a value starting at 14k down to about 12k last time yet my policy says market value.
Without a doubt if I’d have ever finished it with lining it would be up nearer the higher end especially if I’d have changed the rusty old bonnet which was the only thing letting it down.
This is all forgetting the recent unresolved wiring issue, but accounting for the 2nd most recent DMF & belt 18k ago.
None of this includes any labour costs just my time. (Bar the DMF cos I’m too old to do it on floor!)
So realistically to get back as I was I’d need about £12k minimum
