Abs bcm issues

Thanks Bav that’s a great point, why should they care too much! I’m just scouring ads as we speak and doing the maths trying to get some comeback for them.
To get just a standard panel van similar spec condition and mileage to what I had is roughly £8-9k but they are hard to find as the mileage is more often over 200k. It’s the beaten up ones that go for less.
The wheels would be £500 (for which they were insured) I already have a set of 4 new tyres in garage.
The seats, windows, mat, badges, curtains side & roof bars would cost me around £1500 maybe more, I’ve told them everything over the years and always given them a value starting at 14k down to about 12k last time yet my policy says market value.
Without a doubt if I’d have ever finished it with lining it would be up nearer the higher end especially if I’d have changed the rusty old bonnet which was the only thing letting it down.
This is all forgetting the recent unresolved wiring issue, but accounting for the 2nd most recent DMF & belt 18k ago.
None of this includes any labour costs just my time. (Bar the DMF cos I’m too old to do it on floor!)
So realistically to get back as I was I’d need about £12k minimum 🤞👍

Always do you best not to let the van go to anywhere until after you've agreed a settlement figure as you lose control of the situation.
And don't forget its still YOUR van until you've been paid out.

very pleased to say just yesterday they agreed a figure, which was very fair, not quite what I needed as it was basically valued at panel van value, not kombi, however they agreed seeing as that was the case I’m free to strip out anything and everything that’s above a panel van. So Monday I’m going to recovery centre to strip the lot. I did not realise the seats have almost tripled in value since I bought them so glad they’re mine. Good vans didn’t seem to stay advertised for long however 1 popped up and I immediately put a deposit on until the funds clear. I’ve hopefully bagged a clean 67 T6 startline panel van 104ps with aircon and shaved 50k off clock to what mine was at. Coupled with all my Kombi gear that’ll go back in I think it’s turned out pretty well. Seeing as I only paid £12k almost 10 years ago apart from maintenance I’ve effectively had a free vehicle all that time, I get to do it all again on a newer base and will likely gain if I decide to sell, certainly within the next 50k/2 or 3 years anyway! I’m now trawling the headlight threads!! 👍

I'm pleased you've got a result that you're happy with. 👍
