A 25mm spacer on an 18” 8j 50et front wheel is equal to what ET on a 20”x8.5j front wheel?

Rim diameter is irrelevant... A 8j ET50 with spacers you mentioned is equal to a 8j ET25 rim. Considering that a 8.5j rim is 13mm larger, you'll need an ET of 31/32 mm if you want to remove spacers an have the same result in term of width.

you are absolutely right! I foolishly assumed that the goal was to achieve the same aesthetic, so my answer is related to outside edge.

Et19 if you want inner edge same
Et31 for outer

Et19 would be too much poke in my opinion.

Yep thanks guys.
Was deciding whether or not to fit 25mm spacers to my front sportline or fit 15mm spacers.
I’ll be going with 15mm front and 25mm rear.
Don’t want to fronts poking out too far, it looks silly.
