Hi. My 2018 vw transporter dsg 204 bhp has started blowing black smoke from the exhaust and the exhaust is full of black soot. There's no fault codes, the van pulls and drives as it should. The smoke goes away on high revs. Does anyone have any idea what can cause this ? The van is on 150k miles but has an extensive service history. Thanks in advance

I'm not sure if this is normal or related but I've also noticed this part in the photo is leaking some sort of liquid.

The part in the picture is the drain for the AC condensation, unrelated to your smoke issue.

Black smoke suggests that combustion isn't as it should be and is now clogging up your DPF.

If it still pulls as it should, you've noticed it before it gets critical.

Get some injector cleaner to go in your fuel tank and go for a blast down the motorway for half an hour or so. Time it so you're unlikely to encounter traffic, e.g. go late at night.

Try that before you start throwing money at it.
