2015 T5.1 DSG issue

Hi everyone,

I’ve got a 2015 T5.1 DSG and started noticing an issue yesterday—wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar.

When setting off from a complete stop (like starting the engine, selecting Drive, and pressing the accelerator), the van hesitates for a second and then suddenly jerks forward with a noticeable bang, almost like the transmission is suddenly engaging.

This doesn’t seem to happen when stopping and starting in traffic—like when the van is already in Drive and Start/Stop hasn’t kicked in.

Any ideas what might be causing this?

No warning lights or anything on dash.

If it was serviced last year was it done correctly by VW with correct amount of the correct fluid?. Any leaks ?
You could also try the doing the reset process :

or preferrably with VCDS

I'm afraid the video is not applicable to DQ500 box.

Some experiments, and proposals below. However, why not visit VW garage to diagnose properly using factory tools.

Yes, I agree with MMI (our resident expert) - You will have the DQ500 DSG so need to follow a procedure for that transmission.

I was just indicating that there are a couple of methods for try, and as MMI says, perhaps get your VW dealer to do the adaption, especially if they were the ones doing the other servicing.

Did you get this resolved in the end?

I have the same issue with mine (2015 T5.1 DSG). I can tell when it’s happening before the dreading jerk, so I switch the ignition off and on again and it seems to behave after that.

I have it booked in for a full service + DSG service in the hopes this will sort it, but keen to know what your experience was.

Mine had a harsh jerk out of Park from cold, I live on a hill. I could tell if it ws about to do it as the engine once started would be vibrating a bit. I had the DMF replaced (luckily it was on its way out) but it didn't cure the jolt.
Finally I discovered I'd been applying the handbrake whilst in Park... Not neutral, let van sag on to brakes then select park. This puts strain and weight on the parking gearbox pawl which causes the jerk/jolt.
I imagine most people know about doing this but I hadn't owned a dsg /auto before so had clue.
