Hi
title says it all I’m getting new 20” wheels for t6 caravelle.
do I need to upgrade the brakes?
if I do I have seen some purple ones from forge breaks. (my van is blackberry)
if not I’ll probably just have them painted.
cheers

No not at all, but bigger brakes look cooler ;-)

Painting your standard ones will work very well

thanks for the reply. I think I’ll go the paint route then. Just had a mot and advisory was rear disc and pads. So thought I woulstart investigating

Just to clarify, the wheel size has no bearing on the ability of your vehicle to stop effectively as your overall diameter of your 20" wheels will not be much different from the overall diameter of your standard wheels. As the wheel diameter increases, then the wall height (profile) of the tyre decreases by the same amount. Wider tyres offer more grip, but it is very dependent of road surface conditions.
Additional performance from the engine is usually the reason you need to increase your stopping power. Oh, and looks. ;)
My 2p....

If we are getting technical let’s not forget the increased weight of the 20” wheel, so more weight to pull up, with the increased rotational mass

But your standard brakes will work fine.......

......however if you are upgrading though forget forge and get a decent setup like the Revo/Alcon;)
