17” Cascavel’s with all terrain tyres?

Probably a crap idea, but on my Caravelle, I have standard fit 17” Cascavels (black/ diamond cut) and I need new tyres but I’m on a budget.

So, do I either:
A. Just get some reasonable ‘normal’ tyres
B. Go all terrain tyres on these wheels - would it look stupid?
C. Save up and get some proper decent alloys and get the all terrain tyres?

I want to get the suspension upgraded too at some point soon but I’m trying to work out in which order I should empty my already empty wallet!

What if you got them powder coated black - may look better - no idea what that costs. Try that on ChatGPT - might be a compromise.

The the other thing to think about is overall diameter - my van came with 20 inch alloys (the van hated them) - speedo out which annoyed me as normally drive just below legal limit (road conditions allowing) and so was never confident.

Best swap I did 20 inch to 17 inch - much better ride.

Appreciate some like big wheels and get suspension to suit - just saying thing about what you want as a package before changing stuff.

I did wonder about powder coating actually and looked a little while ago and I think it was suggesting £250-£300ish. Could be an option.

I’ve decided against 20s…I do like the look of them but agree that the ride will probably be a lot worse with the road conditions. It’s a daily driver for me going to work and back, then a family wagon at the weekend so comfort is preferable. Definitely thinking 17s with some decent tyres. Suspension will be fitted to suit a more comfortable ride but with better handling

Just mocked up powder coating the current wheels in gloss black. I reckon this could be a reasonable, lower cost option as I just don’t have the budget for new wheels at the minute. What do we reckon? Anyone done it/ seen it before?

Half the cost or less of new alloys, and if you sell the van on punters and their insurers will be happier to see it on 'standard' rims.

If you buy new tyres a wheel refurbishment place should be happy to mount them for you when the jobs done. Thats what I did when I had the C70 rims redone.

I just had a set of as new (100 miles) Devonports powdercoated for £360 and fitted a set of Michelin Agilis CrossClimates on my T6.1 4Motion campervan. Good dry and wet weather handling and braking as well as good winter perdormance. And quiet too.
