Added some 10cm Pioneer speakers to the rear of the van, fitted to the rear overhead locker.

Any amount of bass makes them distort pretty bad.

Is there a decent 10cm speaker to replace them with or do I add bass blockers? Or just add bigger speakers?

Anyone fitted 10cm rear speakers?
Pioneer usually makes decent and sturdy stuff. Maybe your speakers are actually not bad, but where they live is not ideal. Are you sure that the enclusure (your cabinet) is adequate? Without any particular data and calculation I would guess they need some 10-20 liter cabinet volume with a half pint glass size vent. (Note my scientific precision :-) ).The cabinet should be as rigid as possible and sound absorbent in the inside, in order to avoid resonance peaks and vibrations. Just throwing in some stuffing material around the speaker can help. If you are able to make some tests with the above, you could improve your bass more than what you may think.
BTW
Swapping for bigger speakers (that can usually play lower bass) are probably going to exacerbate your problem. Small speakers do not per se distort on deep bass, they just cut it higher than bigger ones.
